Privacy policy

1. Who we are

YokaiJobs (yokaijobs.com) is a free board of design jobs. YokaiJobs is run by Aditya (pixelyokai), Gurugram, India. Contact: support@yokaijobs.com.

We are the controller (under the GDPR) and the data fiduciary (under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023) for the personal data described here.

2. What we collect

We collect personal data only when you choose to give it to us:

• Job alerts: your email address, the filters you chose for your alert (such as roles, locations, experience, work type, salary or search text), how often you want it, and when you confirmed it.
• Updates from pixelyokai: if you tick the separate, optional box on the alert form or on the page where you manage your alert, a record that you agreed, the date you agreed, and the version of the wording you agreed to.
• Removal requests: your email address and the message you send us.

When you visit the site, our hosting and security provider may process technical data such as your IP address and browser details, to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse.

3. Why we use it and our legal basis

• To send job alerts. We rely on your consent. You confirm it through a link in the first email we send, and nothing else is sent until you do.
• To send Updates. We rely on your separate consent. Updates are occasional emails about new launches and free resources for designers.
• To handle removal requests. We use your email address and message to act on your request and reply to you. Under the GDPR we rely on our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us; under the DPDP Act, you provide this data voluntarily for that purpose.
• To keep the site secure. We rely on our legitimate interest in preventing spam and abuse of our forms.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.

4. Who we share it with

We share personal data only with service providers that help us run YokaiJobs, and only as far as they need it:

• an email service provider, which stores subscriber details and sends our emails;
• a hosting and security provider, which serves the site, runs our forms and helps block abuse;
• a privacy-friendly analytics provider, which gives us visit totals without cookies and without identifying you;
• an email provider that receives messages sent to our contact address.

These providers process data on our behalf and under our instructions. We may also disclose personal data where the law requires it.

5. International transfers

Some of our providers may store or process data outside India or the European Economic Area. Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses, and on transfers that Indian law permits.

6. How long we keep it

We keep personal data only as long as we need it:

• Job alerts and Updates: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your data. Each can be stopped on its own. When neither remains, we delete your email address.
• Signups you don't confirm: deleted after a short period.
• Removal requests: kept for a limited time after we act on them, then deleted. We keep only the company or job that was removed, so it stays off the site.

We may keep some data for longer where the law requires it.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• access the personal data we hold about you, or receive a summary of it;
• have it corrected or completed;
• have it deleted;
• withdraw your consent at any time;
• restrict or object to how we use it, or receive a copy in a portable format (GDPR);
• nominate another person to exercise your rights if you die or become unable to (DPDP Act);
• complain to a regulator.

Withdrawing consent does not affect emails already sent. You can unsubscribe from alerts or Updates with the link in any of our emails.

To use any of these rights, email support@yokaijobs.com from the address concerned. We may need to confirm your identity. We will respond within the time the law allows.

Complaints to a regulator. If you are in the EU or UK, you can complain to your local data protection authority. If you are in India, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India after first raising it with us.

8. Cookies

We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. Our analytics are cookie-free and do not identify you. Our hosting and security provider may use strictly necessary signals to protect our forms from bots.

Sites we link to, including job postings and resources, have their own privacy policies and may use cookies.

9. Children

YokaiJobs is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us so we can delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the date above and, where a change is significant, let subscribers know by email.
